Sun City Grand by Del Webb
Sun City
Grand, Del Webb’s newest master-planned community for active
adults, age 55 or better. Sun City Grand is a smaller, more
intimate community than either Sun City or Sun City West. Yet Sun
City Grand offers all of the recreational opportunities you’ve
come to expect at a Sun City. Life at Sun City Grand mirrors life
in a small village. The Village Center serves as the recreational
focal point of the community. The encircling beauty of the Desert
Springs and Granite Falls Golf Courses serve as the visual ribbon
tying the community together.
The Village Center at Sun City
Grand, owned and operated by the Community Association, with it’s
courtyard design, featuring cascading water fountains and lush
landscaping, creates the perfect stage for socializing, meeting
neighbors and attending community festivals, which are certain to
be a big part of life at Sun City Grand. An integral part of the
Village Center, the Sonoran Plaza Social Hall includes an
approximately 9,110 square foot ballroom, meeting room and
multi-purpose activity rooms. The Village Artisan Studios provides
the perfect place for art classes, clubs, and other educational,
artistic, and social activities that will be formed in response to
resident’s interests. Adding to the amenities of the Villa Center
is the Adobe Spa and Fitness Center, an ideal place for residents
to make friends while they receive information on health and
fitness. This state-of-the-art fitness center includes a heated
indoor lap and exercise pool, an outdoor resort pool, indoor spa,
indoor walking track, a dance/exercise studio, bocci ball and
lighted tennis courts.
As you first enter Sun City Grand,
you are sure to be enchanted by the lush green fairways and
crystal lakes of the Desert Springs and Granite Falls Golf
Courses. Both courses were designed by PGA Hall-of-Famer Billy
Casper and nationally renowned golf course architect Greg Nash.
But don’t let the beauty of the courses lull you into a false
sense of confidence. Both 18-hole championship courses were
designed to accommodate players of all skill levels. Multiple tee
placements alter the landscape of each hole by adding yardage and
often require a more accurate tee shot. Larger than average
greens make it possible to vary the difficulty of pin placement.
And those beautiful lakes, all 40 acres of them, come into play
again and again. Residents of Sun City Grand are able to play
Desert Springs and Granite Falls at reduced daily green fees. The
annual golf membership fee includes private cart trail fee, green
fees, eight-day advance tee-time reservations and more.
Sun City Grand, though a village
unto itself offers a location convenient to shopping, medical
services and financial institutions. For entertainment, the City
of Phoenix offers theaters, dance companies, the Phoenix Symphony
and fine art galleries as well as the Phoenix Suns, Arizona
Cardinals, Phoenix Coyotes, and the Arizona Diamondbacks. Hiking,
camping, fishing, and sightseeing are available in Sedona; the ski
resorts of northern Arizona, and of course, at the grandest
attraction of all, the Grand Canyon.
What characterizes the Sun City
Grand lifestyle most are the residents and the multitude of
special interest clubs and organizations which are formed as the
community grows and evolves. If you are looking for an active
adult community for adults 55 and better, Sun City Grand is the
place for you. With a multitude of first class amenities and a
Village Center design that promises to nurture a close-knit
community, Sun City Grand is certain to be a festive, grand place
to call home.

Sun City, AZ . . . means many things to many people, but all agree it
is a place of cleanliness and friendliness, a wide variety of interests
and activities - an ideal adult community - where all residents can be
as active as they wish.
The seven recreation centers, two bowling centers, eight golf
courses, three Country Clubs, Sun Bowl, and Viewpoint Lake constitute
the largest concentration of recreational facilities in the United
States.
Sun City West by Del Webb
From the vision of
an idyllic retirement lifestyle that began with the opening of Sun City
in 1960, to the reality of the country’s finest active adult community,
Sun City West sits as one of the crown jewels of Del Webb’s planned
developments.
Buoyed by the phenomenal success of
neighboring Sun City, the developer improved upon many of the features
and amenities that characterized the earlier community. Sun City West is
now home to some 32,000 residents. Sun City West as an active adult
retirement community, also is age restricted. One resident of each
household must be at least 55 years of age with no one under the age of
19 as a full time resident.
Recreational amenities include four
regulation and three executive golf courses, 27 tennis courts, indoor
and outdoor walking tracks, racquet and handball courts, bocce and lawn
bowling, shuffleboard, billiards, softball, indoor and outdoor swimming
pools, a 30-lane bowling center, and four multi-million dollar
recreation centers.
Every homeowner is a member of the
Recreation Centers of Sun City West. They and their guests can enjoy
unlimited use of all of the varied facilities.
Even if you don’t play golf, residents
will find some 100 clubs to satisfy virtually any interest or hobby,
from arts and crafts and model railroads to lapidary, equestrian and
classic cars. In addition, there are many social clubs and chapters of
most national and international service clubs.
One of those community creations was the
Sun City West Foundation, which gave residents a name under which they
could sponsor housing for community projects. The SCWF currently
provides facilities for Helping Hands, meeting rooms, AARP Tax Services,
Thrift Shop, Interfaith Adult Day Care Center, Luminarias, PRIDES and
Voluntary Placement Services. These organizations allow Sun City West
residents to borrow medical equipment, get help on tax preparation or go
to a shelter in case of an emergency.
Virtually all of the big city conveniences
are located within the community. Residents will find supermarkets,
hardware stores, pharmacies, restaurants, banking, and a host of other
commercial services, plus a post office, churches for all denominations,
a 40,000-volume library and more.
With 7,169 seats, the Sundome Center for
the Performing Arts is the world’s largest single-level auditorium. The
center serves as a cultural hub for the West Valley and offers a wide
array of entertainment year-round, from Las Vegas caliber headliners to
symphony concerts, ballet performances to the country music sounds of
Nashville.
Outstanding health and medical services and
facilities are also situated within Sun City West, including the Del E.
Webb Memorial Hospital which maintains the Louisa Kellam Center for
Women’s Health, which provides intergenerational services to the health
care needs of women and serves as the centerpiece of the hospital’s
$46.5 million expansion program.
Sun City West has grown into a paradise of
the southwest. The community is pleased to celebrate 25 years of
incomparable living in the Valley of the Sun.
SUN CITY by
Del Webb
Nation’s most
famous retirement city continues to thrive!
Sun City, a
master-planned retirement community established and built by the Del
Webb Corp., is the largest retirement community in the nation.
The community, which
opened in January 1960, is world-famous for its active-adult retirement
lifestyle and has set the standard for other retirement communities to
follow. The community is age-restricted with the requirement of one
resident must be at least 55 years of age and no permanent resident
under the age of 19.
Sun City is
self-contained with many shopping centers and restaurants offering a
wide variety of stores and services. The town is unincorporated and
depends upon Maricopa County for services such as law enforcement,
street repairs, and zoning protection. Fire protection is provided by
the Sun City Fire District.
Eleven golf courses,
including three country clubs, and seven recreation centers in Sun City
provide swimming, tennis, bowling and numerous other activities. The
Lakeview Recreation Center even has a lake for fishing and limited
boating.
Volunteers are a
mainstay in Sun City and the community is known as the “City of
Volunteers.”
The Sun City PRIDES
is a non-profit corporation which assists Maricopa County in keeping Sun
City clean.
Police protection is
provided by the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, augmented by members
of the Sheriff’s Posse of Sun City – men and women who volunteer their
services 24 hours a day. The Posse’s primary objective is to prevent
crime through neighborhood patrols.
A number of civic
organizations have assumed the responsibility of keeping an eye over
issues that affect the community.
The Recreation
Centers of Sun City, Inc., a private corporation, is responsible for
recreational amenities in Sun City; the Sun City Home Owners Association
works with county and state agencies on such issues as zoning and
transportation; the Sun City Taxpayers Association keeps a close watch
on such issues as taxes and utility rates. The Sun City Visitors Center
